After the hurricane - writing response

AFTER THE HURRICANE – Winslow Homer, 1899
Story by: Shazarna Harvey
The boat ripped apart from side to side, ramming into the solid sand.
The sky’s deep, dark world has locked up the sun in its dull prison, poisoning all its rays.
The water slowly calms down from Sandy’s wreck; leaving the young explorer stone cold from being pounded into the rock hard sand. An innocent man ruined.
All he wanted was to check out a new island but Sandy took everything and chucked it in the bin, her furious waves broke a strong man

This is awesome - "The sky’s deep, dark world has locked up the sun in its dull prison, poisoning all its rays..."

  2. It is a fantastic piece of descriptive work Shaz! You have such a clever way of choosing your action verbs and adjectives and they all come together to build up a vivid picture. I am sure there are a lot of people on the East Coast of the States, and in the other countries that were affected, who will be able to relate to the emotion you have been able to create in this writing - it was devastating and you have portrayed that here. - Well done - Mrs C
